Compliance - 04 August 2008

Many of us think South Africa is run by the Government, by Parliament, by the ANC, they all the same anyway, to a degree this is true but the main influence comes from big business (listed on JSE, by inefficient Government controlled business, e.g. Eskom and then of course there is SARS.

If you are running a small to medium size business, up to +- R50.000.000 turnover per annum here are a few suggestions.

Business Survival Kit 2008/9 - 22 July 2008
  • Provide Excellent service to all customers
  • Cut costs wherever possible
  • Examine every aspect of the business to identify areas in which it can become more efficient, productive and streamlined
  • Be honest with coworkers, request their input and assistance.  They are an important part of the team and most or all of them will respond positivelt to your request...
  • SARS - 11 February 2008
Newly promulgated legislation allows SARS to require the taxpayer to prove that any tax benefit, given or claimed to or by the taxpayer, was not for the main or only reason of obtaining a tax benefit.

    Department of Labour - 06 February 2008
Many entrepeneurs do not realise the stringent regulations that are in place in RSA governing employment of staff.   One of these regulations is in regard to Health and Safety Procedures.

    ADD VALUE - 16 January 2008

The entrepeneur constantly needs to be looking for ways to "add value" to the business.   Adding value can be achieved in many ways and in all facets of the business, eg:

    SMME's - 19 November 2007

The success of the South African economy will to a large degree depend on the performance of it's entrepreneurs. The SA government through DTI has recognised this important growth area and is actively encouraging and making available funding to SMME's. The DTI and IDC websites are certainly worth investigating for any budding entrepreneur .

    VAT - 07 November 2007
These issues are often not handled correctly by businesses:
    Registering for Tax - 22 October 2007
It is now a criminal offence to not register as a tax payer, the same situation applies if you do not notify SARS of a change of address within 60 days.
    Add Value - 15 October 2007
Entrepreneurs often start a business with their two main goals being sales and profit. They would be well advised to add to that menu by striving for a positive cash flow and an almost always ignored factor, that of ADDING VALUE . You will add value by giving of yourself, running your business ethically and by providing great service to all.

    Business Opportunities - 29 September 2007
Take advantage of the business opportunites available to you. The so called business commentators are presently telling us that business confidence is declining and that business activity is not as good as it has been.

Let the pessimists react to this negative information but you should be optimistic, get out there and be proactive, exude confidence, motivate yourself and your co-workers, be positive and you WILL reap the rewards that will follow your action.
    Concepts and ideas - 11 September 2007
"I have more respect for the person with a single idea that gets there, than for the person with a thousand ideas who does nothing". (Thomas Edison)
    Business in the 21st century - 04 September 2007
"The world is changing very fast. Big will not beat small anymore. It will be the fast beating the slow". (Robert Murdoch)
How do you measure success? - 30 August 2007
"Cash generation in business and be respected by the people around you, that is success". ( Hans Enderle-City Lodge)
    Provisional Tax - 16 August 2007

If you or your business are provisional taxpayers and have a year end of February or August it is now time to pay SARS some of your hard earned money by not later than 31 August.

    Annual Return - 14 August 2007
Do you have a private or public company? If so Cipro requires payment of all outstanding Annual Returns together with payment of the relative fee by 31 August. For more details visit www.cipro.gov.za
